EIC Laboratories' Biotechnology team integrates capabilities in materials science, molecular biology and analytical instrumentation to diverse problems relating to biotechnology, biosensing and human health.

The medical electrodes group develops and tests a range of coatings such as iridium oxide to enhance performance of bioimplantable devices for electrical stimulation and sensing, as well as in vitro testing and models for electrode evaluation.

The synthetic chemistry group designs and implements strategies for modifying biological molecules, creating bioconjugates, attaching bioactive materials to surfaces, and for targeted drug delivery.

The molecular biology group addresses a range of problems in biotechnology, including bioprocess monitoring, developing novel affinity labels, and designing strategies and microfabricated platforms for parallel immunoassays.
